Can A Dog Keep A Cat Out of Your Garden?
It seems amazing to me how many people really do hate having cats in their gardens, and not just gardeners.
This point was mentioned in my office at work and it was quite amazing the passion involved and the number of different ways and methods people can think of to rid the garden of the cat pests.
Being a dog lover, I couldn’t really go along with the ‘buy a cat’ idea, besides, I’m not sure Bailey would approve.
In fact, you would have thought that simply by owning a dog, I may have resolved this problem and to a certain extent yes. However, some cats are just big enough and ugly enough to try it on anyway – and with my dog they can get away with it. Firstly, she can be lazing around in the garden and not even notice a cat approach. Secondly, she kinda likes them so if they haven’t moved by the time she’s within 5 feet of them, she stops.
I think for this to work I need a much bigger and scarier dog. Nothing else seems to work. Between all the colleagues at work, the methods that I can publish here yet failed, include chemical repellents, natural repellents, spiky plants, chicken wire and water (apparently you put it in bottles and cats don’t like the reflection).
Guess I’ll have to put up with the cats for now
