Cop Borrows Dog To Trick Thieves
A story in the Manchester Evening News this weekend made me laugh.
A copper was chasing two teenage suspects down a street and she grabbed a passing Labrador and shouted:
“Stop! Or I’ll release the dog!”
The two teenagers didn’t know it wasn’t a police dog, so they stopped!
24 year old, PC Leanne Murphy from Oldham said:
“When I gave the lady her dog back, their faces were quite a picture,” she said. “They didn’t say a word. They started to cry.”
The copper of four years is pictured here with her own red setter, Freeway.
PC Murphy said:

I accosted some poor lady’s dog and just shouted `stop, or I’ll release the dog’. First of all they just carried on running. But the dog got a bit excited and jumped up on a wall. They stopped in their tracks and came back.”
She added: “They were running in the opposite direction. The lady didn’t say anything when I gave her dog back. I said `thanks’ and she said `no problem – I’m happy to help’ and then she laughed.”
