Why go to dog classes?
A friend of mine recently acquired a puppy and when I asked if he would be going to puppy classes, her answer was no, because she would be training him herself.
However, puppy classes are not just about training; they are about socialisation with other dogs and humans too.
According to my friend, her puppy is socialised because he sees two other dogs and one child aged around eight, but this is an incorrect assumption from a novice dog owner.
All dogs should go to puppy classes in my opinion. Seeing dogs they always see makes friends, but doesn’t teach a dog manners, such as it is rude to run up and jump at strange dogs and not all dogs appreciate approaches from them.
They also need to meet humans of all shapes and sizes and again, learn some manners such as not all humans are dog lovers.
Puppy classes are really important and you should get your puppy to one as soon as he is old enough and had his vaccinations.
