Dog Tattoo Register

Today I came across the National Dog Tattoo Register website. This is a site that encourages people to get their dogs tattooed, like the one you can see here (the tattoo is just inside the ear).

Personally, I don’t like the idea. Mind you, I was never that keen on the idea of microchipping either but I did eventually give in and get my dog microchipped because I couldn’t stand the thought of losing her and not having any way of finding her.

I suppose the tattoos have the advantage of being visible so people can see straight away that the dog has a tattoo, whereas with a microchip the dog has to go to a vet or centre with the scanning equipment just to see if they have one.

I’d be interested to hear other people’s views on dog tattoos and the National Dog Tattoo Register
