Brilliant blog.
Working dogs have to wear special 'clothing' all the time. From little foot protectors to full saddle-bag outfits which can be quite heavy. Search and rescue dogs often wear 'wellingtons' to protect them from glass, debris and chemicals.
Dressing up a pet, so long as it is comfortable with it as you state, I don't think is out of order. But, please remember, it is a dog, not a baby substitute!
