Scandal At Crufts
It seems last weeks bookie fears were unfounded. Prior to the show, there was a huge influx of bets on one particular dog to win the Best in Show. This was suspicious partly because the bets were on a dog in the utility section – a section that rarely wins the Best in Show. To make the bets even more suspicious, punters continued to place bets even when William Hill slashed the odds.
Eventually, William Hill decided to close the bets on the dog completely.
The eventual winner was the giant schnauzer pictured here, called Philippe, who no doubt we will be seeing advertising a certain dog food in television adverts before long. The winner of the utility section was Tango, a Japanese Shiba Inu. Her owner had no idea of the fuss caused.
