Sponsor A Puppy for Dogs For The Disabled

Dogs For The DisabledMany people are aware of sponsoring puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, but there’s another charity that could do with a few puppy sponsors - Dogs For The Disabled.

It takes twenty months for the labrador and golden retriever puppies, such as ten week old Roo pictured here courtesy of Dogs For The Disabled, to learn how to become a disabled person’s best friend and helper.  They learn to open doors, press buttons on pedestrian crossings, help take off socks or jacket sleeves, empty the washing machine and many other helpful skills.

Sponsorship is very reasonable at just £5 per month if you wish to pay by standing order or you can pay in a lump sum of £60 annually - the money could be worth even more through Gift Aid if you’re a UK taxpayer.  You can also sponsor a puppy as a gift for someone else.  Sponsors receive a certificate, regular updates and postcards and a cuddly dog toy.

To date, Dogs For The Disabled have trained around 400 dogs but many more are needed and they don’t get as much publicity as other dog charities.  So, if you’re thinking of sponsoring a puppy or looking for an unusual gift for somebody, consider sponsoring a puppy for Dogs For The Disabled.
