Types of Dog Collars
When you get your first dog, you might be amazed to discover such a wide range of dog collars. Some of these are listed below:
Buckle collars – these are like the ones pictured, can be made of cloth, leather or anything. Best one if you want to leave the collar on your dog the whole time.
Choke Chain / Slip collars – these are metal chain collars to be used when walking or training your dog. You should learn how to use this collar properly or it can be cruel. See our earlier article Are Dog Choke Collars Cruel?
Prong or Pinch collars – more rare in the UK as they are considered quite cruel. It lies flat on the dogs neck and when the lead is pulled, the dog is corrected when metal prongs dig into his neck. Horrid things in my opinion.
