We are obsessed with dog mess

I wrote an article recently about dog wardens in Lytham keeping watch and encouraging people to help them find and fine persistent dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs on Lytham beach.

It seems that we are becoming obsessed with dog mess.  Darlington council is the latest to join in the campaign.  Their dog wardens are handing out free dog poo bags to owners with the hotline for their Dish the dirt campaign on the bag.

The aim is the same, to get people to help them find persistent offenders.  Wardens can only issue a fine if they see the offence so they’re asking people to ring and warn them of hot spots and when it is happening to they can ’stake the place out’.

Thing is, if the hotline is on the dog poo bags, and they’re given to responsible owners who will use them, then the number will be in the bin, so who will ring?  Can’t wait to see the next thrilling installment of this one!
