World’s Ugliest Dog Contenders

The World’s Ugliest Dog is a yearly competition held in America. For three years running (2003, 2004 and 2005), Sam was the winner. Unfortunately, Sam passed away leaving the way open for the new 2006 winner, Archie, however, judges agreed that had Sam still been alive he would have won yet again.

Sam was a Chinese Crested Hairless dog, pictured here in his Darth Sam pose. I didn’t show Sam in his full glory for fear of scaring the children, but you can see more photos of Sam on his website. The 2006 champion, Archie, is also a Chinese Crested and the 2007 winner, Elwood, is a cross between Chinese Crested and a Chihuahua.

Here are a few other ugly dog contenders – it seems the Chinese Crested Hairless dog would surely have to be the world’s ugliest breed of dog.
